According to the legend, Phrigne must have been someone. This story, though somewhat excessive in modern times, was not a common one, or at least was told as a true story throughout the ancient Greek period. As a model, Frigne's relatively great contribution to the history of art should be the statue "Aphrodite of the Nitos" created in collaboration with Praxiteles. Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty in Greek mythology, later known as Venus in Roman mythology. Praxiteles was the Greek master sculptor of the 4th century BC, and Phryne was his lover. The master was known for his beautiful style, and this work is an outstanding representative work of him, and it is also a popular and more copied statue in ancient times. In order to make Aphrodite more ideal, he used Phrigne as a model. According to Pliny, the master made two statues of the goddess at the same time, one clothed and one naked. The representation of the goddess in her nude form was unprecedented, and Praxiteles was the first person in the history of Greek sculpture. Obviously, this form of expression was not yet able to meet the requirements of the conservative thinking of God in general at that time, and so it was not approved by people. However, Greek society had begun to change in the fourth century BC, and new aesthetic needs had been broken through, and the creation of the two statues and their subsequent encounter and destination were a reflection of this change. The statue of the nude Aphrodite was rejected by the people of Kos, but welcomed by the people of the Needles. He was welcomed back and consecrated in a small temple built especially for him in the forest of the island. Unexpectedly, thanks to this statue of a naked Aphrodite, the island of Needles became a popular gathering place for hundreds of years. At the same time, Aphrodite of the Nidos was regarded as one of the most beautiful statues in the ancient world, and almost the whole Greek world came to see her. It was so loud that the other statues on the island were forgotten. In the later imperial era, the Nidos appreciated this work and cast it on the coins used on the island, the nude statue was finally recognized, and a new aesthetic code appeared in the Greeks, and has been passed down to later generations. By the way, there is also a legend that the story of Phrigne in the above-mentioned court is much the same, but the theme is exactly the same, because she was often a nude model and was considered to be indecent.
