What is Tampera's method of emulsion preparation and painting

The medium emulsion of Tampera painting is divided into two categories: natural latex and synthetic emulsion. Traditional European Tampera paintings used egg Tampera emulsions, and modern painters also use casein emulsions and methyl cellulose emulsions. The preparation method is as follows:

(1) Egg Tampera lotion
Water-based egg Tempera emulsion: Add an egg with equal amount or half of water, and then drop a few drops of white vinegar to emulsify and preservative.
② Oily egg Tampera emulsion; (1:2) After mixing the dama glazing oil with linseed oil at a ratio of 2:1, add two tablespoons of the mixture to an egg, and then add a few drops of white vinegar.
Whole egg Tempera emulsion: that is, egg white and egg are used together instead of eggs, and water-based or oily whole egg Tempera emulsion can be prepared according to the above two methods according to the needs of the painter. Another preparation method for whole egg Tampera emulsion: one whole egg, half part (1:2) dama polishing oil, half part linseed oil, and one part water.
(2) casein emulsion
Put 50 grams of casein into an electric hot pot with 5 ml of water and heat to boiling, then add ~ grams of basic ammonium carbonate (dissolve in warm water first), stir constantly, so that casein is fully dissolved, and then add 5 ml of water to make glue, add 1% of lead white for anticorrosion. As a water-based emulsion, the adhesive liquid can be directly used for color painting, or appropriate amount of dama polishing oil and linseed oil can be added.
(3) Methyl cellulose emulsion
Take methyl cellulose gram, add it into clean water, stir and dissolve it before use. When used directly for painting, it is better to mix half or equal amount of latex. An oily methylcellulose emulsion can be prepared by adding one part methylcellulose to half part Dama polishing oil, half part linseed oil and one part water.
Tampera's method of painting:
(1) Hard supporting materials such as wooden boards are used, and a layer of gauze or other cloth is affixed to the bottom plate.
(2) Chalk base or gypsum base. No oil base is used.
(3) Paint with Tampera lotion and toner.
(4) Draw a rigorous and neat sketch on a drawing paper as large as the drawing, and then copy it to the bottom of the painting, and spray thin alum water to color it.
In the painting process, Tempera emulsion is better to use and make as needed, because the emulsion will deteriorate or appear oil-water separation phenomenon for too long. Dilute with water according to coloring needs. The first step is to apply the general color with a flat tip pen in the way of watercolor painting, and then use a small brush to gradually apply color and shape with a thick small stroke. Due to the semi-transparent nature of the Tampera pigment, it is not easy to paint a large area of color, so the technique of covering color and small line arrangement is used to describe it in detail. The principle of applying color is from light to deep, first thin and then thick. Tampera's painting features: it can describe the image in detail, and can maintain the brightness of the color to a maximum extent, and it is dry (a few seconds after the pen is dry), and it can be repeatedly drawn in multiple layers.
